PINK SLIP Presents a Tribute to Dead Can Dance, Tonight!

 Hello My Sinuous Guardians of Light and Shadow, This week at PINK SLIP we are paying tribute to one of the most eclectic and dynamic alternative bands of the last 30 years - Dead Can Dance! Their musical catalogue is often hard to categorize, with sounds ranging from post-punk and goth rock to neoclassical, ethereal, and dark world music. Their songs have permeated mainstream culture in surreptitious and potent ways, being featured in movies like "The Mist" and "Baraka", but they have always maintained a unique creative integrity and ability to fascinate, move, and elevate audiences with sonic structures that detach from any particular time and place. Dead Can Dance is a calling to the wild in-between of light and shadow, the spaces far back and deep within - the sky and the stars and all the swirling matter beneath our primitive skins. Join us as this Tuesday, June 2nd as we pay tribute to these masters of mythic sound!  Featuring Arcane and Bewitching Performances by: Ronni Guitar Dottie Lux Vixen Noir Ferosha Titties Pippi Lovestocking ...and more! Pippi Lovestocking fires up the night with her killer pre-show stand-up at 11:30 PM, while DJ Drama bin Laden spins the beats that make the dance floor bleed. Queensize greets you at the door, and our bar staff will fill you to the brim with precious potions!! Now for a peek into the delectable future of PINK SLIP:  June 9th - "Damaged Goods" - Trash-talkin' big haired hoodlums, reform school girls, and busty bad-mouthed broads that'll cut you as soon as sit on yer face. Featuring Honey Mahogany, Dottie Lux, Ruby White, Honey Penny, and Sweet Chastitti Belle. June 16th - "Heathers: The Musical" - Join Raya Light, Suppositori Spelling, Trixxie Carr, Precious Moments, and other misfits as they re-interpret this classic '80s bitch-fest! June 23rd - "Stalkerazzi" - Hysterica co-hosts his own birthday bash/fashion show/performance art extravaganza featuring Phaedra and Bebe Sweetbriar! Plus Danny Palacios will be snapping rock-star pics of everyone to make you feel sooooooo incredibly stalkable! And mark your calendar for these Special Events:  On Sunday, June 14th, underground film and burlesque expo Spookshow-A-Go-Go will be celebrating Gay Pride Month with "Lezbo-A-Go-Go!", an evening of chicks, dicks and flicks. Hosted by me and featuring a screening of my short film "Imp of Satan", the party gets started @ 7:00 pm at The Stud and will showcase the live burlesque talents of Ruby Vixen, Dottie Lux, Ophelia Cour de Noir, Kitty Von Quimm, Steven Satyricon and Gemma Stone, Angelique A'Lamode, Miss Elixir, Izebel Vivant from Alpha Psi Ecdysia (New Paltz, NY) and more! DJ'd by PINK SLIP's Drama bin Laden, this will be an evening of devilishly homo-riffic delights!  "Imp of Satan" was my first film, shot in the Castro and released for a limited run at Red Vic Moviehouse in 2007. Hailed as “saving queer horror film from the clutches of mediocre types hell-bent on tearing it down” (Flavorpill Magazine, September 2007) upon its initial screenings, "Imp of Satan" also enjoyed a successful run at SF Indiefest's Another Hole in the Head Film Festival in 2008. It's a dark comedy that satirizes the traditional religious belief that homosexuals are sinners and monsters in the eyes of God.  On Tuesday, June 23rd, fine-ass photographer Christopher Boyd is having an exhibition of his work documenting the San Francisco night-life scene, featuring images of me and several other fabulous queens - "Dressed as Girl" will be shown at the San Francisco Public Library's James Hormel Gay and Lesbian Center with a free reception from 6pm-8pm.
